Call for Stream Proposals – new extended deadline September 25th 2023

The Call for Stream Proposals is now open for the 1st annual Midlands Conference in Critical Thought (MCCT), which will be hosted and supported by the Centre for Policy, Citizenship and Society at Nottingham Trent University on April 5th and April 6th 2024.

This is the inaugural MCCT which is an offshoot of the London Conference in Critical Thought (LCCT). As with the LCCT, the MCCT is an annual interdisciplinary conference that provides a forum for emergent critical scholarship, broadly construed. The conference is free for all to attend and follows a non-hierarchical model that seeks to foster opportunities for intellectual critical exchanges where all are treated equally regardless of affiliation or seniority. There are no plenaries, and the conference is envisaged as a space for those who share intellectual approaches and interests but who may find themselves at the margins of their academic department or discipline.

There is no pre-determined theme for the MCCT. The intellectual content and thematic foci of the conference will be determined by the streams that are proposed in response to this call and accepted for inclusion. Successful stream proposals form the basis for our subsequent Call for Presentations; therefore, stream proposals should not take the form of pre-established panels. We welcome stream proposals that aim to stimulate a range of cross-disciplinary responses and which approach critical thought in an open, non-prescriptive way. Past programmes of the LCCT and examples of stream outlines can be found on the website: http://londoncritical.org.

The proposers of accepted streams will become part of the organising collective for the remainder of the annual cycle, taking principal responsibility for their own stream as well as contributing to the MCCT organising collective. For more information about the ethos and structure of the conference please visit http://londoncritical.org, and if you have any questions please email us at midlandscritical@gmail.com.

The deadline for Stream Proposals is Friday September 25th 2023. Proposals should not exceed 500 words and should be sent to: midlandscritical@gmail.com

  1. In review of critical theory or deconstruction rhetoric, etc. the best analogy to offer to gauge the spectators- whom enjoy the leveling reactions- to critical application, it can be stated thus: “in being Critical, the application itself reveals the connotations of the effects of composition elementization or break and reduce,” etc. Tendencies to think that critical observations are derogatory or value-laden have seemed to surface, but remain shadowy and reserved? The only remedy for thought-reactions, emotional outcomes or frenzies (in any sense) about trends in frameworks, (where deconstruction is employed), is continued clarity on the merits of Self-employed criticisms, characterized for their power, significance or erreur? In my applications of theory, testing and correlative observations, I’ve discovered that: Organization, irrespective of time-order of independent variables, tends to be audacious to some, but likewise, very rich with causal pessimism? In turn, the pessimism incites certain suggestive lines of body-language, distorted communications or inhibited types of demeanor? These are field-observation conclusions, based on overt, participant review to culture, indoctrination or church (for instance?). Being critical is first recognized for the ability to infer, then for the meritorious-ability to examine consistency of any object, subject or action, etc. In a word, “Critical” constitutes bare-stripping’s, which imply demystified acceptance of imperatives that remain questionable? Or, of the rudimentary stigmatizations of of any essence, existence or realism? The frame of deconstructive models has to be, then: logic, theory, stepwise organization, dimensional analysis and among others: methodology! These observations, can be verified or tested for their legitimacy, but in the minds of followers whom recognize the style of delivery, punctuation of themes (yes!), or any critical meme regarding review or continued development, has to realize: Deconstruction involves much more than simply zooming on keywords or defining terms in personalized manners; it involves: Extrapolations of Eclecticisms or Inducement of novel paradigms? So, provided these observations, hence, are clarified and reviewed in authority, the tradition will continue to benefit from such stuff as: Historical Method, Symbolic Interaction, Statisticology and the arithmetic Language or Presented Spellings, etc. I’d like to continue elaborating, but I am pressed by other pangs and frustrations/ To the review…!

Remember: valueless objectification is better utilized by value-holding researchers, scholars or pedagogues, when they are employed with corroborating reflections by Major Sources?
Focus: Being critical is not about gaining, as others lose- or belittling, as others rise and clench? The notion that the milieu of critical theory or of applied deconstruction is a “weapon” can be considerably misconstrued by feminists (for instance), whom aspire to vindicate inequality of demographics (in retrospect)/ Or, disproportionately-advantaged groups could think or act based on these same milieu, as if rites of suffering are somehow exemptions for oneself, but warrants for another? Likewise, dis-spelling notions of resistance to overwhelming critiques and breakdowns are perceived (truthfully) to result in further separations by demarcation and alienation within relegations?
Directions: Eliminate axiological notions about what constitutes defense-mechanisms against Power-surging paradigms, which pose threats? Apply grace, pursue faith, remember infancy, endow with humaneness, remit false-securities about certainty or liabilities to philology (for example), or any of the imaginative- but spurious- drawings regarding abstraction within lotteries.
To be the best or evenly, the better: simplify approaches, disentangle knots of ‘dancing’ in redundancy!
Finally: Confess the weaknesses of leveling erreur, the inability to comprehend word salads, but be reasonable about tactics to remain in liberty! Robust approaches to Critical Theory, Deconstruction & Ethical Action, must be the equation which the ongoing/forthcoming field of neophytes must consider.
