London Review of International Law Fellow Call

by | 17 Aug 2026

The London Review of International Law is looking to appoint a new Editorial Fellow. The Fellow will be involved in all aspects of the Journal’s work and all stages of the editorial process: from desk review to copy-editing. The post is for a two-year term, and it is a career-development opportunity aimed at an early career researcher who is within 5 years of finishing their PhD. If you are enthusiastic about high-quality critical research on international law and keen to gain editorial skills and experience, then read on to learn more about the role and the application process.

About the role:

  • The post is for two years, with the anticipated start date in October 2026;
  • You will be working closely with our general editors and our assistant editor and so we are looking for a team player;
  • You will be participating in decision making when it comes to desk review, so ideally you’d have a good grasp of the current developments in international law scholarship and a good sense of the emerging fields;
  • You will be expected to attend regular monthly meetings of the board, which are usually at 9am GMT, and so we are looking for someone who can commit to this;
  • The journal has a non-hierarchical structure, and so we are looking for a self-starter, and someone who is comfortable taking initiative and voicing their opinion;
  • While the fellow will be expected to take on some editorial work, including copy-editing, previous experience of journal editorial work is not required (but it can be a bonus, so definitely mention it in your application!) and we are open to applications by ECRs who have other types of editorial experience (journalism, working as an RA).

In addition to the above, we are looking for someone who:

  • Is enthusiastic about the kind of scholarship we publish, and who has a good knowledge of the journal’s vision and ethic;
  • Does critical (conceptualised very broadly) work on international law, and has a good command of a range of critical theoretical approaches;
  • Is passionate about writing, language and style.

How to apply:

If you are interested in the role please e-mail a 2-page CV highlighting any editorial and research experience you have and a 1-page cover letter explaining why you want to be a London Review of International Law Fellow to Tor Krever (tkk24@cam.ac.uk). The cover letter should explain a) why this journal, and b) why this role (how will the fellowship support your career development and what it is that you are hoping to get out of this experience). Note that the role is unpaid, and its primary function is career development, so this aspect of the cover letter is particularly important, as it helps us ensure that we can fully support your needs and goals.

Deadline for applications is September 15, 11:59pm BST.

If you would like to have an informal chat about the role, please feel e-mail Marina Veličković (marina.velickovic@warwick.ac.uk) who is our current Editorial Fellow.
