CfP: Critical legal thinking in a rapidly evolving world

by | 24 Feb 2026

The Queen Mary Annual PhD Law conference 2026, organised in collaboration with the Queen Mary Law Journal, invites submissions for papers engaging with critical legal thinking in a rapidly evolving world.

Critical legal thinking involves a shifting of perspectives, which is crucial in the current global context. As tension arise, it is essential not only to think but practice law and legal research in a way which questions its creation, (mis)use and effects. The call for abstracts welcomes submissions which discuss law or legal thinking, regardless of the field. The conference’s theme is broad, because we believe that critical thinking is an approach, as well as the possible object of substantial and self-standing enquiry. We welcome interdisciplinary submissions and those which discuss legal topics.

The conference will take place on the 11th and 12th of June 2026, at Queen Mary University of London. Submissions should be addressed to PG-law-conf@qmul.ac.uk by the 6th of April 2026. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by the 20th of April 2026.

Participants will have the occasion to submit their presentation as a paper to be published by the Queen Mary Law Journal. The latter welcomes both academic and artistic submissions.
The link to the full call for paper is the following: https://www.qmul.ac.uk/law/research/research-community/postgraduate-law-conference/.

If you are interested in chairing a panel or attending as a part of the audience, please get in touch with us at: PG-law-conf@qmul.ac.uk.

We are looking forwards to read your submissions!
